Membership

Eligibility

LAWYER ACTIVE MEMBERS: Any Class L1 or Class L2 lawyer who is a member in good standing with the Law Society of Ontario residing or practicing in the County of Essex is eligible to become an active member of the Corporation upon making application and paying the annual or other dues and assessments.

LIFE MEMBERS: Senior Members of the Corporation may be appointed by the Board as life Members of the Corporation in recognition of long service to the Corporation and the profession. Upon appointment, life Members shall be exempt from payment of further dues and assessments but shall retain their vote in the business of the Corporation.

HONORARY MEMBERS:
(a)
All judges of the Superior Court of Justice and Ontario Court of Justice who reside in the County of Essex, and the Local Crown Attorney as have been sometime members of the Law Society of Upper Canada or duly enrolled solicitors in the Province of Ontario shall be Honorary Members of the Corporation.

(b) Other persons may be appointed as Honorary Members of the Board for any period or for life in recognition of distinguished service to the profession, the Corporation or to the public. Honorary Members shall be exempt from the payment of dues or assessments and shall be without power to hold office or to vote in the business of the Corporation.

FACULTY MEMBERS: Any person who has received a degree in law and who is a member of the Faculty of Law of the University of Windsor is eligible to become a Faculty Member of the Corporation upon making application and paying the annual or other dues and assessments.

AFFILIATED MEMBERS: Any person who has received a degree in law from any University or other institution recognized by the Law Society of Ontario and who is residing and employed in the County of Essex may be admitted as affiliated member of the Corporation upon application and paying annual or other dues and assessments.

PARALEGAL ACTIVE MEMBERS: Any Class P1 paralegal who is a member in good standing with the Law Society of Ontario residing or practicing in the County of Essex is eligible to become an active member of the Corporation upon making application and paying the annual or other dues and assessments.
