The Essex Law Association has five classes of members. All membership applications are subject to approval by the Essex Law Association.
ACTIVE MEMBERS
Any barrister-at-law who is a member in good standing with the Law Society of Upper Canada and a duly enrolled solicitor of the Ontario Court of Justice and/or the Ontario Superior Court of Justice residing or practicing in the County of Essex is eligible to become an active member of the Corporation upon making application and paying the annual or other dues and assessments.
First year of membership: FREE
Second year of membership: $50.00 + HST
Regular Annual Fee: $ 105 + HST
LIFE MEMBERS
Senior members may be appointed by the Board of Directors as life members in recognition of long service to the Essex Law Association and the profession. Upon appointment, life members shall be exempt from payment of further dues and assessments and shall retain their vote in the business of the Essex Law Association.
No Annual Fee.
HONOURARY MEMBERS
All judges of the Ontario Court of Justice and the Superior Court of Justice who reside in the County of Essex, the Local Land registrar, the Registrar at Windsor, the Master, the Sheriff of the county of Essex (or as they may be classified from time to time) are honourary members of the Corporation. Other persons may be appointed as Honourary Members by the Board of Directors for any period or for life in recognition of distinguished service to the profession, the Essex Law Association or to the public. Honourary members are exempt from the payment of dues or assessments and are without power to hold office or to vote in the business of the Essex Law Association.
No Annual Fee.
FACULTY MEMBERS
Any person who has received a degree in law and who is a member of the Faculty of Law of the University of Windsor is eligible to become a Faculty Member of the Corporation upon making application and paying the annual or other dues and assessments.
Current Annual Fee: $ 50.00 + HST
AFFILIATED MEMBERS
Any person who has received a degree in law from any University or other institution recognized by the Law Society of Upper Canada and who is residing and employed in the County of Essex may be admitted as affiliated member of the Corporation upon application and paying annual or other dues and assessments.
Current Annual Fee: $ 105.00 + HST
